First Day

Today was my first day at my internship. It was great! The directors were in Detroit filming for their upcoming documentary Detroit Hustles Harder (here's their website). My job is going to be a lot of research. Today I worked on sifting through blogs about Detroit to find interesting stories and characters. I'm also going to be working on a research project for an MTV program called True Life. I don't know much about MTV, but I watched the episode Loki did previously about teens in Saudi Arabia. It's worth watching. Very interesting! The one I'm researching is going to be within the US. It's a very small office. Only the two directors and their two assistants. The two assistants, Rachel and Christina, are really nice! I think this internship will teach me a lot in a really fun environment!

In addition to being my first day interning, it was also the hottest day New York has seen in nine years. The building my internship is in isn't air conditioned and it's on the 9th floor. It does have window units, but they just feel like fans. No cold air. After work I took an extra long ride on the subway to get some quality time with the AC. Everything you're reading about the stifling heat here is true! Fortunately, we haven't had any blackouts in Brooklyn (not that I know of and definitely not in my neighborhood). I'm going to spend the evening in front of my fan drinking lots of cold water! A short update for today, but I'm woozy from the heat. Stay cool!

Ps- Here's an update on the cat's at home. They've moved from the bed to the chair!
