First off, I'll recap yesterday a little better. I ran a couple errands and then went to Anthropologie in Rockefeller Center. I spent a little time browsing the sale section and sighing over the high pricing of even the discount clothes. Then I headed to the Museum of Television and Radio, which was only a couple blocks away. By that point I was very hungry and started searching for food. Unfortunately, there's nothing exciting in the tourist area. It's all chain bakeries and Olive Gardens. I walked in about five places, decided against them, and awkwardly walked back out. I ended up at a place called The Bread Market. I got a burrito that was not bad, but nothing special. I gave my back a break and didn't take my camera yesterday, so no pictures (sorry, Mom). Then I crossed the street and went to the museum for four hours. It is pretty much my favorite thing. There is a main screening room that shows noteworthy episodes of famous shows and specials on specific topics. I watched the end of a collection of old Super Bowl commercials, "Lucy Does a TV Commercial" (see post title), and a special about funny women of TV. Then I went to their library upstairs where they have a huge collection of TV and radio shows. The people working there were painfully strange and awkward, but very nice. One guy was a huge I Love Lucy fan and kept quoting it to me very awkwardly. I listened to an episode of "My Favorite Husband" and watched a panel discussion about Frasier. That place is amazing!!! Then I headed to Trader Joe's for groceries and I stood in line for almost half an hour! It was completely worth it though, because the food it awesome and so are the prices.
Now for Friday:
I've been having an on and off problem with the volume control of my iPod, so I set up an appointment at the Genius Bar at the 5th Ave. Apple Store. The first thing they tell you to do is make sure the software is up to date, so I spent several hours waiting for the update to install. When I finally made it out of the apartment I went back to my internship's neighborhood to wander some more. I want to feel completely comfortable with the area when I start. Then I went to Central Park for a relaxing afternoon of reading. I found a comfy spot and ate my lunch. Today I packed a lunch:
PB&J! Yum!
I spent the next four hours reading and taking pictures:
Women talking at Strawberry Fields
A woman sleeping with a newspaper over her face
This isn't the greatest picture, but I love the look of the face of the woman in green in the back!
A couple hanging out in the lawn
I love that people can just go out and sleep in the park
Another two women talking. They remind me of Mom and Beth.
People hanging on a bench. At that angle the guy looks exactly like Mike.
People can rent boats and go out on The Lake
This one's for Ryan. Check out that hair! (Ps- I saw an awful wig today!)
This is my favorite boat picture
Cute little kids fishing. I can see why Dad enjoys taking pictures of the kids at holidays!
This one reminds me of home!
This guy was playing on the sidewalk
My favorite of the day
And last, one for Dad
My appointment at the Apple Store was at 8:00. The store was super cool! I got to play with the new iPhone and call Dad on it. Then I went home and cooked up some soy nuggets from Trader Joe's. They were good, but not as good as the ones at Stephens (I miss those!). I met Gilly's boyfriend via Skype and we all chatted a little. Very fun! I'm not sure what I'll do tomorrow... Any suggestions?
Find another slice of life! Love you! Keep your eyes open!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteAlie, these pictures are so cool!!! I so wish I could just hop on a plane and be there with you. I would be the woman in green making crazy faces. :) -Lisa
